As long as the purpose of the list (to coordinate between the various
free geeks) is clear, there's no real problem in having it open to others.
The franchise list needs to be open to official free geeks only however,
since that is where we hash out the merits of applications and
participants should feel free to raise all sorts of potentially touchy
concerns and whatnot.

The reason we're using the word intergalactic is because the umbrella
organization we're talking about has been being referred to as "Free
Geek Intergalactic". That is, we would just be naming the list after the
organization.
(It's worth noting that Free Geek Intergalactic has no standing yet as a
legal entity.)
I'm leaning towards a separate list for ongoing business of Free Geek
Intergalactic (separate from the current startup list). The startup list
will get filled with FAQ like stuff, will swell to large numbers of
subscribers that show an interest for a little while and then disappear.
(There are currently 125 subscribers at this point, though only a dozen
or so folks have posted more than a single message since the beginning
of the year.)

Toto, I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore.
