Oddly this whole thing has started to snowball from emailing one
person. There hasn't been much need to send out invitations. There
was an article written(before I even knew of freegeek) in a local
bicycle magazine called Momentum and that, and rev phils message under
it on-line helped get people emailing.

is history! At present we have no website but it is under discussion,
as it will be needed of course.

Our first meeting place is a bit of a story actually. We originally
decided to meet at a nice quiet local bar at 7pm. Upon my arrival at
6:30 I found out the place was closed till 8 for inventory. So I put
a sign up directing people to the very "divey" bar next door. I was
concerned at first because the bar we wanted to be in is known for its
indoor bike parking. However the folks next door were nice enough to
let us bring in our bikes. It was an odd place for a first meet and
greet, but we pulled off the first hour of our meeting there and
raised a glass of cheap swill to freegeek vancouver. At 8 we moved
next door and we talked till about midnight. Since we have no space
yet, meetings will be back at the bar or maybe another venue, we have
not talked about it yet. The next meeting is Nov 27, I'll let you
know if the meeting space changed.

As we are still just very new, nothing concrete has happened beyond
picking a Board and setting out some goals. Money! Space!

I will hopefully have more to tell of in the near future.
