In St. Louis, MO, WITS (which is a little like FG,
http://www.witsinc.org) worries about big company recyclers.
One of the big computer sellers (Dell?) offers $$ for used
computers that they somehow utilize. One of the big box
retailers (like Home Depot) was set to accept ewaste too.
I am not involved in management or strategy. From my tech
volunteer vantage point, it seems that WITS is doing OK. One
thing that it does is accept all kinds of industrial and
household discards. The orgainzation employs several people
to keep the stuff moving through its warehouse.
My guess is that this is working relatively well at the
moment because of the current prices for various scrap
metals.
