The logistics of traveling from 45 minutes West of Chicago to the heart of
South Bend Indiana, are seriously impairing my ability to volunteer for my
favorite non-profit organization, but I was able to make it to their meeting
this past Tuesday by 8:30 pm EST.
Here are the obligatory flickr pics:

We had an informal state of the GEEK conversation, FGM is having a temporary
lull due to some bottlenecks in building a lab and volunteer recruitment.
FGM is also having difficulty finding recycling partners that play nice. Or
should I say pay nice? It's not for lack of trying, the volume they
generate is just not enough to overcome the transportation costs. For small
type FREE GEEKs who lack enough volume to make revenue in recycling, it's
all about not loosing money, but still getting enough used gizmos to use in
the program. Since I left off with FGM, 3 years ago, I observed a lot of
progress, especially the great partnership formed with the company who is
donating warehouse space to them. I think FGM has good plans for generating
revenue in the future to sustain the project, I'll jot down some of the
things we've brainstormed somwheres in the freekiwiki soon. It's not easy
being GEEKy but I see FGM as a mainstay in Michiana.
Geekishly,
John Billings
