WOW, what a week it has been here in TN. We have lined up our first few recyclers, who also happen to be not only responsible, but local as well. Our CRT recycler takes batteries, CRT tubes or whole monitors, glass, fluorescent bulbs, and ballasts. Not sure if this is a good rate or not (someone please let me know) but .26 per pound for just the CRT's, .35 per pound for the whole monitor, with a $45 pick-up fee, but will reduce it if there are frequent pick-ups and quanity. However, we plan to recycle the plastic hulls from the monitors (have someone lined up to pay us .20 per pound for ABS plastics).

We have also received great feedback and should have on board one (of 3) of the local colleges on board to send us students for volunteers to give them work study credit and other opportunities to utilize their A+ and Network + skills that the school teaches, as well as the Director of I.T. of the school to serve on the board. The more I work on this, the more the community is becoming very excited! Now if we can just lock down a facility. People are still trying to donate already, and TN is set to pass a law at the beginning of the year that landfills and local convenience centers can no longer accept computer monitors. That should help us with some revenue hopefully.

I know that their are a few of the mothership people on this list, and I hate to ask, but could someone please check on the status of our freegeek application? We have not filed our business name yet, and I am trying to avoid making a lot of amendments to the charter right away.

Thanks again for all the comments, support, and feedback. Please keep it coming. We too want and plan to be successful just like the other FG's and owe it all to the communities!!!

Sincerely,

Shawn M. Campbell - Acting Director
Rutherford County Computer Recycling
