Well, I was off work today and spent 5 1/2 hours pounding the pavement with a lot of the non-profits in our area as well as looking over city / county issues. We have made some very good contacts, two offers to serve on the board, and people already wanting to donate equipment. As a matter of fact I will be picking up 5 monitors later this week. One of the contacts happens to be our local library which is a non-profit. They were thrilled about what we are trying to do, and welcomed the idea of a joint venture for computer classes as well as an opportuntiy for a hardware grant. They have even offered their facilities in case we do not have room for a training center immediately.
The director of the library, her husband also serves on a recycling committee who we are trying to get in with as well as they do two HUGE recycling of hazardous materials events each year. The next one being Nov. 18th. Businesses are not currently allowed to participate and we are hoping to change that as well as get in on the residential action.
I also need to send off a seperate email to find out the status of TN getting approved as a sister organization of Freek Geek. Thanks again for everyone's help and feedback. It is helping us greatly more than anyone can imagine.
Next stop, habitat for humanity and the local boys and girls club!
Sincerely,
Shawn M. Campbell
