John;
You make a very valid point, but in order to get our name out there and also to keep this junk out of the landfill, I may have to make an exception with one or two customers. If they are not using it, they I will try to recoup it in "other" recycling costs. Or I could tell them that I currently cannot take monitors and explain to them about the fees and that they should not be throwing them away. I have not met with these places in person yet, and will probably do so next week.
Thanks again for the feedback...
Shawn

Also how about a detailed list of items that are sold to vendors, and a list of what a freegeek has to pay a recycler to haul away.

I am pleased to announce that the initial interest and feedback was very positive and overwhelming. We have a solid shot of partnering with the local Salvation Army chapter as well as an outreach thrift store that has computers that they cannot do a lot with and are throwing them away. I offered to take them off their hands free of charge (that was easy). We also are trying to get an appointment setup with the director of the local boys and girls club. We have also found a local recycler who will also give us their computers (all they need is the metal) and refer all their customers who try to drop off computers to us. They can only handle our metal recycling needs, but no matter where we decide to be located it will be within 20 miles of this facility so that helps out a lot.

It is our intent to get a presentation put together and try and get all the leaders of these organizations together as much as possible at the same time and explain to them what we are doing and why as well as what we can do to help their organizations as well as the help we need.
