[freegeek-startup] Questions for Recycler vendors and an update

Does anyone have a list handy of questions they ask when contacting new vendors.? Things like what will you buy from us and how much, how much do we have to pay you to haul away. Also how about a detailed list of items that are sold to vendors, and a list of what a freegeek has to pay a recycler to haul away.

I want to make sure that once we are up and running we are recycling 100% of what we can and need to make sure we are not throwing away or paying for someone to haul off things that a revenue generators.

On a side note: I returned from a business trip today and spent an hour afterwards speaking to directors and presidents of local social change organizations. I am pleased to announce that the initial interest and feedback was very positive and overwhelming. We have a solid shot of partnering with the local Salvation Army chapter as well as an outreach thrift store that has computers that they cannot do a lot with and are throwing them away. I offered to take them off their hands free of charge (that was easy). We also are trying to get an appointment setup with the director of the local boys and girls club. We have also found a local recycler who will also give us their computers (all they need is the metal) and refer all their customers who try to drop off computers to us. They can only handle our metal recycling needs, but no matter where we decide to be located it will be within 20 miles of this facility so that helps out a lot.

We will be going to the chamber of commerece on Monday who will give us a copy of all social change and non-profit organizations in our area for free. It is our intent to get a presentation put together and try and get all the leaders of these organizations together as much as possible at the same time and explain to them what we are doing and why as well as what we can do to help their organizations as well as the help we need.

This new adventure has the potential to skyrocket from the get go, and I need to make sure the staff fully has the information that we need to become a successful FreeGeek (if approved). Any other information that I have not requested that some one my see I missed, and can offer, please do so.
