Hi there, faithful newsletter readers. This is a special edition of our
quarterly newsletter.

Geek Fair, Free Geek's annual street party celebrating reuse, recycling, our
volunteers, and like-minded organizations, is coming right up. In 8 days, to be
exact! The first Geek Fair was in 2001, and it was an awesome affair: go to
http://gallery.freegeek.org/geekfair2003 for some photos of the early days.
While Geek Fair has grown greatly (we expect ~900 attendees this year), it still
retains its home-grown flavor. Go to
http://www.sito.org/~ed/blogstuff/bttv_FreeGeekFair.mov for a short movie of
some of the madness of 2005's Geek Fair.

We here at the Geek invite you and all your friends and family to this year's
event on Saturday, July 21 from 1-7pm at Free Geek. There'll be a little
something for everyone: a cool kids' area with reused crafts, great food for
vegetarians and meat-eaters, a beer garden with comedians to make you laugh,
music from indie to acoustic, and our thrift store will be open with special
deals for all of the geeks that inevitably sniff the fair out. Of course, we'll
have printer smashing and video gaming as well. New this year will be a
juggling performance, an acro-balancing troupe, hard drive shuffleboard, and a
special panel on the future of technology. We'll also be open to receive
hardware donations all day -- what better excuse to bring by that old computer
that's been lying in the basement?

For the full story, go to http://freegeek.org/geekfair

That's Saturday, July 21 from 1-7pm right in front of Free Geek! We'll see you
there!

P.S. If you'd like to volunteer during the day of the event, there are lots of
opportunities! Send an email to events at freegeek.org and let us know. We'll
hook you up with a task to do during the fair, and some free food and drink!
